Spoiling the old Beasty

Post by hammerman » Sun May 27, 2018 5:20 pm

Well after 15 years, I`ve finally gone and done it !

Spoiling the Beasty.

Put a NEW set of plugs in the motor

The original plugs didn`t look too bad, with one plug in each cylinder a little carboned up and the other running a light tan- brown.
If I had an old spark-plug sandblaster would have cleaned them up and re-installed.
Sayjan & Murf had a good time sitting on dad as the work progressed and retrieved one bolt I dropped. Good apprentices !

How much of the fine pointy tip was left on the old plugs? Was there a pointy tip at all?

The color of them is awesome, shows good burn....

What plugs did you use Hammer. I haven't changed mine for about 10yrs, I am running the Bosch Platnum plus 4 electrode (#4418).
I went to Lordco to get some and they told me those plugs were no longer made.

Bammer-- I used the NGK`s part #1FRSL11, same as what was in the motor from new.

Rob, the centre electrode is in fine shape. Side electrode built up with carbon but could be
cleaned up and re-used.
