It has been a few years since I was last on this forum. A lot has happened since then....

My partner and I were almost killed in a bad riding accident in 2015 on the Sea to Sky Highway north of Vancouver. Broken leg, torn up shoulder, crushed wrist, broken vertebrae, concussion.... My co-rider had 13 broken ribs, punctured lung, lacerated liver, retinal tears, and a concussion. We healed up pretty good, but I have one more surgery to go in a couple of weeks. The doc wants to replace my wrist with a metal and plastic joint as it never healed quite right. All the gear all the time saved our lives....

I never did get rid of my old '84 Aspencade. It was totaled in the crash and I found another just like it. My therapy over the last two years has been rebuilding this new bike and getting it road worthy again, as it was stored in a barn for a few years and needed a lot of TLC. The price was right....
New fork seals, exhaust, rear shocks, lots of new plastic, water pump, wheel bearings, brake cylinders and calipers, and a ton of elbow grease. I rode it last fall for the first time and it runs great!

Glad you're o.k. and getting back to riding. I hope your next surgery goes well and you heal quickly!

Thanks guys! I am also the new incoming director of the GWRRA Chapter BC-A, Vancouver. Lots of rides and activities planned. If it interests any one of you, I am organizing a three day ride through the Kootenays on the July long weekend. We depart from Holeshot Motorsports in Langley on the 1st with an overnight in Grand Forks, then on to Nakusp for the 2nd. I have 10 rooms booked in each town. It would be nice to see some of you again if you can make it. Do not have to be a GWRRA member to participate..............

Surgery done! Here is a pic of the x-ray. It was either this or a complete fusion of the joint which meant no riding ever...... I might get in some mileage later this summer if it heals up nice...here's hoping!

My first physio session with a certified hand therapist was on Friday. He saw no reason why I cannot expect almost full function in the new joint within a few months. The surgeon says I can ride maybe in July - the Kootenay Loop ride I am organizing. That would be awesome!
